Regent Power Limited is a Private Limited company incorporated with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies on September 24, 2007 at Chittagong. The shareholders include Mr. Md. Yakub Ali, Mr. Md. Mahabub Ali, Mr. Md. Yasin Ali, Mrs. Anjuman Ara Begum, Mrs. Amina Mahabub, Mrs. Salma Yasin and Kaltimex Energy of Indonesia situated at Menara Batavia Jakarta-10220, represented by Mr. S.S. Das.

Habib Group was founded in the year 1947 as a trading company formed by the late Habib Ullah Meah. He was the son of late Naju Meah, a prominent businessperson of undivided India. Late Naju Meah was the first President of Assam Bengal Chamber of Commerce. After the demise of Habib Ullah Meah in 1981, his three sons Mr. Yakub Ali, Mr. Mahabub Ali and Mr. Yasin Ali took over the Habib Group. Over the years, the Group has invested in various business sectors of Bangladesh. Employing more than 9000 people and having investments in various businesses the Habib Group has established itself as one of the largest and prominent business houses of Bangladesh. Habib Group, being a renowned group of the country is still expanding its wings and diversifying its business interests in Bangladesh. Their commitment and financial strength has given them the reputation of being one of the finest in the business industry of Bangladesh.

The business sectors where Habib Group has its exposure include – Textile, Apparel, Spinning, Cement, Ship breaking, Paper, Steel, Fertilizer, Share & Securities, Real Estate, Power and Trading. The group has generated revenue of BDT 4,639.87 million in the year 2006 and earned a Net Profit before Tax of BDT 299.67 million. As of December 31, 2006, the group has a total assets of BDT 5647.08 million and total liabilities of BDT 3,281.92 million. The group’s net worth stood at BDT 2,365.25 million.
 

Bangladesh has one of the lowest in the world in terms of access to electricity, which is only 42.09%, based on BPDB( Bangladesh Power Development Board) estimates. On top of that, currently there is a chronic shortage of power with 1,200 MW load-shedding. At present, the peak power generation is 3,849 MW while the demand is over 5,000 MW. The Demand of electricity is increasing day by day. Government is giving high priority in power sector. We ensure power supply for remedy of power shortage in Bangladesh. Our current capacity is 22 MW, which will be added to the national grid.
